Georgette Patricio began her musical studies on the piano at the age of 9 and began playing the oboe at 14 years of age. In 2016, she graduated from Steele Canyon High School and began to further her musical studies at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music where she is studying for a Bachelor of Music Degree as a Cole Scholar in Music Performance (oboe) and Music History. Currently, she studies with Claire Brazeau of the LA Chamber Orchestra; her past mentors include Sarah Skuster, Jessica Pearlman Fields, Joseph Stone, and Electra Reed.
As a musician, Ms. Patricio formerly held Principal positions with the North Coast Symphony Orchestra, Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra, East County Youth Symphony, Grossmont College Concert Band, and Cuyamaca College Concert Band. She has also been a part of the San Diego Summer Music Institute and Grossmont High School District Honor Band. She also had the opportunity to perform with the San Diego Philharmonic. While studying in school, she enjoys having the opportunity to perform with the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony. She is also a freelance musician for the Orange County and San Diego County areas.
When she is not performing, Ms. Patricio is immersing herself into the field of Music Librarianship. She started her librarian journey by being the head music librarian for her high school’s music program for three years. Since Spring 2016, she volunteers a couple times a week in the Conservatory’s Band Library. In 2017, she interned under the Principal Librarian, Courtney Cohen, of the San Diego Symphony, where she spent the summer gaining experience in their orchestra library. While pursuing a dream to perform with a professional orchestra someday, Ms. Patricio plans on setting her goals for a graduate school that will allow her to study both performance and music librarianship.
As a way to give back to music, Ms. Patricio is a member of the Professional Music Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota, in the Gamma Pi chapter on the campus of CSU, Long Beach. This organization aims to further the strives of music to the highest standards in the community and promotes music education. Currently, she holds the position of Treasurer in her chapter this 2017-2018 school year.
