Georgette Patricio recently held positions of Principal Oboist with Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra, East County Youth Symphony, Grossmont College Concert Band, & Cuyamaca College Concert Band. Throughout the years of playing oboe, she has been a member of the Grossmont Union High School District Honor Band and the San Diego Summer Music Institute. She was featured with the Steele Canyon Symphonic Band as a soloist in her performance of the Marcello – Oboe Concerto in C minor, which gave the high school band a new experience in studying classical literature for the first time. She has also worked in several masterclasses with Andrea Overturf and Sarah Skuster. Aside from oboe, Ms. Patricio is an avid English Horn player. She has been featured in many performances, including Respighi’s Pines of The Appian Way, Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Alfred Reed’s Russian Christmas Music, and Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasia to Romeo and Juliet.
Ms. Patricio began her musical studies at the age of 9 on the Piano; her teacher, Bobby Hearns, taught her the basics of music theory, jazz piano, and classical studies for 5 years. Later on, she picked up the flute in elementary school and played it all throughout middle school and high school. In high school, she was an avid member of the music leadership program, where she held positions of Student Band President, Woodwind Section Leader, and Music Librarian. Some of her accolades have included “The John Phillip Sousa Award”, “Director’s Award”, “Most Valuable Player”, “Most Dedicated Musician”, “Most Inspiring Musician”, nomination to audition for the World Strides National Honor Band, and honored musician for the school district’s honor band. She also volunteered once-a-week with the Spring Valley Academy beginning Cadet Band as a Flute Coach.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ms. Patricio grew up in San Diego. Besides studying music, Ms. Patricio was a dedicated student to the numerous activities during high school. She was a member of the school’s Academic League, Science Olympiad, and Cougar Crew, as well as an AP and Honors student. In the 2016 Science Olympiad Regional Competition in San Diego County, she and her teammate had represented her school by placing 17th out of 70 teams in the event Forensics. Ms. Patricio has been studying Tae Kwon Do since the age of 5 and holds a Black Belt.
Ms. Patricio currently attends the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU, Long Beach s a Music Performance Major under the tutelage of Jessica Pearlman Fields. Her past teachers include Sarah Skuster, Joseph Stone, and Electra Reed O’Mara.
